A quest is a defined task a campaign participant can complete for rewards, such as following an account, joining a community, trying a product feature, or executing an on-chain action. Quests are the building blocks of most Web3 growth campaigns, and platforms differ mainly in which quest types they can verify.
Verification is the real dividing line. Confirming a wallet executed a transaction is straightforward and cheap. Confirming someone genuinely used a product feature requires an integration with that product. Confirming a social follow depends on API access that platforms do not always have.
A quest set therefore reveals what its platform can prove rather than what a project would ideally reward. Campaigns lean on points across a mix of quest types so that participants who cannot complete one lane can still earn through another.
